New Austin Developments in for Approval (8/22 - 8/26)

Austin goes from darling of the US to latest city to bash as overpriced in ''Best Of' lists but there's still phenomenally positive things to look forward to and be proud of.

Austin can still be the 'Next Austin' & LinkedGlenn is scouring the interwebs weekly to show most exciting projects submitted for site permit approval. Obviously getting full city approval will delay these projects ground breaking till 2023 but huge things are still ahead for Austin!

7000 Gilbert Multifamily - 7000 Gilbert Road

Dallas based developer Civicap Partners is looking to develop a massive site on SH130 near Tesla for multifamily/workforce housing. The 56.45-acre site with 130 frontage and access off Gilbert Road looks to be getting water from J.P. Morgan subsidiary SouthWest Water Company/Texas Water Utilities. As most things along 130 these days do, this site looks to have been acquired from a group associated with non other than Mr. 130 himself, title sponsor of LinkedGlenn Charity Sandcastle Competition, close friend and neighbor, Jim Young of Sabot Development.

Hines Domain Northside - 11901 N Mopac

Looks like the 'Next Domain' is Indeed going to be surrounding The Domain after all. Developer Hines has submitted permits for a mixed-use tower development to replace the unassuming La Quinta hotel (which fun fact does not mean next to Denny's in Spanish). This 4.25-acre site will no doubt accommodate a substantially higher building than the 2 story hotel, likely in the 20+ story range, possibly rivaling the 26 story Domain Central I just announced inside The Domain boundaries.

Menchaca Multifamily - 10308 Menchaca Rd.

South Austin beer district along Menchaca Rd (or Manchaca Rd to long time Austinites) looks to be getting some new beer drinking residents next door to Lustre Pearl South. This 2.94-acre heavily treed residential site is slated for a multifamily development.

Redbud Trail Bridge - 3401 Redbud Trail

City of Austin's long planned replacement for Redbud Trail Bridge, which is reaching its end of useful life, is in for permitting. Providing the only access to dog friendly Red Bud Isle the new bridge will no doubt include substantial pedestrian and bike access as shown in previous design renderings. City documents shows the bridge project to be completed in 2024.

1200 E Anderson Ln

Maryland based real estate investment firm Sentinel Net Lease is looking to update their recent value-add acquisition of former State office building housing the TX Higher Education Coordinating Board. Site permit light on details of the project situated on the 3.67-acre site but no mention of addition so not expecting additonal square footage to the 87K SF office in North Austin.

Howard Lane Apartments - 5121 E Howard Ln.

North East Austin is continuing to boom with new multifamily housing developments. 5121 E Howard Ln is in for a site permit for the 32-acre site which currently houses a 950SF single family residence and farm in Manor. 32-acres can certainly house a huge amount of units, will be interesting to follow along for more project details.

Stassney Park Subdivision - 6200 E Stassney Ln.

Brookfield Properties has submitted a heavily wooded 53-acre tract for site approval for an industrial park immediately next to TxDOT's new campus in middle of a heavy industrial area of South East Austin.
