Austin goes from darling of the US to latest city to bash as overpriced in ''Best Of' lists but there's still phenomenally positive things to look forward to and be proud of.
Austin can still be the 'Next Austin' & LinkedGlenn is scouring the interwebs weekly to show most exciting projects submitted for site permit approval. Obviously getting full city approval will delay these projects ground breaking till 2023 but huge things are still ahead for Austin!
Research Park Flex Expansion - 12455 Research Blvd
Los Angeles based Karlin Real Estate appears read to expand the Apple supplier Flex campus in North Austin near the new Apple Campus. Current site plan application indicates a warehouse expansion on a 14-acre section of the overall 188-acre campus. With 95-acres of undeveloped section of the campus available for development.
University of St. Augustine Expansion - 10415 Dahlgreen Ave.
University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, a San Marcos (california) based private institution offering graduate degrees in occupational and physical therapy and an orthopedic physician assistant program is looking to developer a 6 acre expansion to their current South Austin campus. No word yet on developer or general contractor but original 2 building, 80K SF 2 story buildings were developed by Sawtooth Development Group and constructed by DPR Construction.
Mueller Charlie/Delta - 1527 Barbara Jordan Blvd.
Former Austin airport redevelopment Mueller's developer Catellus appears ready to develop one of their last greenfield 4.62-acre blocks adding 2 large office buildings and associated parking. With recent success with Austin Energy and Texas Mutual Insurance office buildings look for additional high profile tenants to quickly sign up looking for space near downtown Austin but with amenities and surrounding not found in the CBD.
Arista at McKinney Falls - 8101 Thaxton Rd
A 24-acre site near Easton Park master planned community is slated for a ton of multifamily housing units. At this point the location doesn't matter, all new housing is welcome.... especially when we are talking 24-acres!
The Doming Building - 4929 Burnet Rd
More commercial development coming to Burnet Road. With over 1/2 an acre of surface parking driving up property taxes and significant traffic issues getting In-N-Out it was only a matter of time before the drive-in was out of business. Someone has aquired the property and has 'commercial' development planned. With a working title like The Doming Building the possibilities are endless.... I am hoping for a mini-Astrodome!
